Hosting

  1. What does web hosting mean?

Hosting a website means giving it permanent space on a web server that is accessible 24 hours a day from any where in the world. We are pleased, however, to offer Hosting Packages that go beyond typical hosting plans offered by other design companies. For an annual fee, we not only host your website on our servers, we also include Search Engine Optimization and Marketing strategies for your website at no additional cost.

  2. Where will my website live once its online?

All websites have to "live" on a server. This allows anyone who is connected to the Internet to access the website at any time from any where in the world. Servers are usually powerful computers with a permanent connection to the worldwide web. Our servers are particularly powerful and able to handle large volumes of web traffic.

  3. Some free hosting is available. Why should I pay for hosting?

Free hosting is fine for personal pages, but there's really no such thing as a free lunch. The reason that it's free, is that there is some benefit to the company offering it, such as forced advertising on the website pages. Free hosting also comes with limited bandwidth. This will cause your website to be "unavailable" once you go over a certain number of visitors in a day. In addition, the URL of a free hosted website is a dead giveaway, giving an unprofessional image.

  4. Can I have you design/renovate my site if another company is hosting it?

Sure. As long as we can have FTP access to the server, and the server supports the methods that we use to create websites. We cannot however, be responsible for downtime on that server, or access to server statistics.

  5. Do I have to transfer my existing site to your servers?

If you wish to take advantage of our Hosting package, your website will have to be hosted on our servers. We can, however, design and maintain websites that are hosted on other servers, provided we have FTP access and that the server that is hosting the website is capable of processing all of the web applications your website may include, such as ASP programming, databases, advanced streaming format, etc.

Email

  1. How many Email addresses can I have with my Hosting Package?

Our typical Hosting Package includes 3 email addresses. Additional addresses are available on an as-needed basis.

  2. How do I receive email from the addresses you provide with my website?

Typically, our clients use an email software program such as Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express. It is our pleasure to assist our clients in setting up their email software to receive email from their new email addresses in addition to email addresses they may already use.

  3. I already have an email address at Yahoo/Hotmail, or through my ISP. Why do I need another one?

Many of your potential clients will expect your email address to match your website address. Also, if your website is called CoastalCondos.com, it looks far more professional to have your email address as info@coastalcondos.com, or sales@coastalcondos.com than coastalcondos@hotmail.com.

It's all about presenting a professional image and making excellent first impressions, as well as making it easy for your visitors to contact you.
