About Your Website

  1. Can I sell products or services from my site?

Absolutely. One of the greatest attractions of putting your business online is the ability to sell your products and services to a global market. We offer several e-commerce solutions to our clients, ranging from full-service e-stores, to single item sales.

See our help section about E-Commerce for more information.

  2. How many pages will I need?

This depends entirely on what your website is about and how much information you are presenting to your visitors. We have designed websites ranging from three pages to hundreds of pages.

  3. Do I have a say in what my web site looks like?

We rely heavily on your input and wishes for your website. Our designers work directly with you and your staff to create a website that best represents your products and services, and that is also professional-looking and technically sound.

  4. Will my website work on all browsers if I get you to design it?

Every website we design is tested on various browser platforms to gain as much cross compatibility as possible. It is possible that someone may try to view your website with an outdated browser and receive some strange results. This is not usually a problem, since most browsers are free to upgrade, and the majority of your visitors will see your website through an up-to-date browser.

  5. Will everyone see my web site the same?

Generally speaking, yes. Different browsers may show minor differences, and different monitors may very colors slightly.

  6. I like the way frames look on web pages. Can you design a site with frames?

Many of our clients have frames on their websites. We do try, however, to use frames sparingly, since not all browsers will display them correctly and framed websites are limited in their accessibility. Unless there is a specific purpose for having frames, we usually discourage their use.

  7. How about animated graphics? I have seen some great ones! Can you do them?

Yes, we can do all kinds of animation. We do try to keep the load time in mind though. In most cases, too many animations can make a website look cheap and home made, as well as making it slow to load. For looks, as well as load time, subtlety is the key.

  8. How important is download time?

It's very important that your website loads quickly. Surfers tend to get fed up waiting for slow websites to load. Large images, animations, and poor optimization can all add to the load time. We optimize our designs to make them look great, but still load fast.

  9. Our company has an order form, can I have the same layout on the website?

Yes. We can recreate a form for orders. You can also have job application forms, booking forms, or any other kind of form.

  10. Can I have links to other sites?

Yes. It's a good idea to have links to relevant websites. It's even more important to have other websites link to you. This can help your search engine rankings.

  11. How can I prevent people from violating my copyright, and stealing images, and information, etc from my website?

Generally, text and images are easy to "steal" from a website. Other elements, such as programming are very difficult, if not impossible to steal. It has been known for unscrupulous designers to copy a design and sell it as their own. Including the copyright symbol, ©, on your website gives notice that the information is protected and that we will, if necessary, pursue legal avenues to protect the copyright of all images and text displayed on your website.

  12. Can I password protect certain areas of my web site?

Password protecting your website is useful if you have members or subscribers. We can set up your website to only allow authorized access to parts or all of the site. There are many options that we can set up, from full automated sign-up and payment systems, to simple password protected pages.

  13. How can I keep track of the traffic at my web site?

If we host the website for you, we will send you a monthly report on server activity as part of your hosting package. This report will give you detailed information such as traffic flow, busiest days, busiest times, which keywords were used to find you, which search engines found you, etc.

  14. Can I download or print my website files?

Yes. You can download your visible website files using the Save or Save As feature on your browser.

  15. Is it possible for me to maintain and update my website myself?

Yes. Typically, our clients would rather spend their time running their businesses than maintaining and updating their website. If you prefer to maintain your website, we can program a backend to your website that will allow you or a member of your staff to make changes in text and images on your website.

Redesigning Your Website

  1. What if I already have a website that I am not happy with?

Yes. We can usually redesign or freshen up your existing website more quickly, and for less money, than building one from the ground up. Send us your existing web address, and we will gladly take a look at your current website and provide you with a proposal to define the areas of your website that need improvement.

  2. Can I have you design/renovate my site if another company is hosting it?

Yes. As long as we can have FTP access to the server, and the server supports the methods that we use to create websites. We cannot however, be responsible for downtime on that server, or access to server statistics.

We do, however, recommend taking advantage of one of our Hosting packages, as we offer many extras in our packages, such as traffic reports, one hour free maintenance per month, and search engine submission and marketing, at no additional charge.

  3. My cousin did our website using FrontPage, but I'm not happy with the results. Can you fix it? How about Microsoft Word? Or Adobe GoLive?

Yes! We can go into the source code of your website and remove any extraneous coding that is added to your pages by these types of WYSIWIG (What You See Is What You Get) programs, and reformat or add whatever it is that you need to make your website more presentable.
